Hosting

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., USA. When you visit, GitHub processes technical data needed to deliver the pages, including your IP address, in server logs. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). GitHub may process this data in the United States. GitHub relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers. See GitHub's privacy statement.

Fonts

The fonts on this site are stored on our own server. Your browser does not connect to Google or any other font provider.

Student Initiative registration form (Google Forms)

On the Student Initiative page you can register for the club. We collect:

  • your name and last name
  • your degree (programme and university)
  • your university email address
  • the part of the club you are most interested in
  • your answer to why you are interested in the club
  • the date and time you sent the form

We use this only to add you to the branch and reading groups you picked, invite you to sessions and events, and contact you about the Student Initiative. We do not sell it or use it for advertising. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box before sending the form (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by emailing hello@safeaimunich.org. This does not affect processing before the withdrawal.

The form is run with Google Forms, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Nothing is sent to Google when you only view the page. When you press "Register", your browser sends your answers directly to Google, which stores them in the club's Google account and also receives your IP address and browser information. If you are signed in to Google, Google may link this to your account. If you open the form on Google's own page instead, Google's privacy policy and cookies apply there. Google may process data in the United States; Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and transfers are also covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google's privacy policy.

Only the club leads and organisers who coordinate the branches can see the responses. We keep them while you are an active member, and at most until the end of the academic year after your last contact with us. We review the responses at the start of each semester and delete entries of people who have left, in Google Forms and in any linked spreadsheet. If you ask us to delete your data, we do so within 30 days.

Event calendar from Luma

The home page and the Student Initiative page show our event calendars, provided by Luma AI, Inc., USA, as embedded frames. When a calendar loads, your browser connects to Luma, which receives data such as your IP address and browser information and may set cookies. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing our events in one place (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). You can also open the calendar directly on Luma. See Luma's privacy policy.

WhatsApp, the volunteer form and LinkedIn

Our WhatsApp community, our volunteer form (Airtable) and our LinkedIn page are run on those providers' services. Nothing is shared with them when you visit this site. If you follow a link and join, fill in the form or interact with a post, the provider processes your data under its own privacy policy, and we see what you share there, such as your name, phone number or form answers. We use what you send us through the volunteer form only to get in touch about volunteering.

Email

If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply. The legal basis is your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in answering (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We delete the messages when they are no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. To use these rights, email hello@safeaimunich.org.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. For Bavaria, this is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA).
